The THEME for this year’s Sophomore Banquet is A Night in Hollywood. The banquet will be held from 5:30pm - 10:00pm at Kekūhaupiʻo Gym on Saturday, January 25, 2020.
For the first time, ticket sales will be done completely ONLINE! Ticket Sales will be held the week of Monday, December 2 (see details to the left). Students may purchase a maximum of TWO (2) tickets, one for the student and one for his/her guest (for banquet, guests must be in high school or no older than 19 years of age). Ticket costs are as follows:
Students will be given a form titled “Kamehameha Schools Prom/Banquet Guidelines: Record of Understanding and Agreement” once they purchase their tickets. Students will need to review the guidelines with you, and both you and your student will need to complete the form. If your student is bringing a guest, the guest and his/her parent/guardian will also need to complete the form. Students must bring the completed form with them during ticket pick-up, which is from Tuesday, January 21 through Thursday, January 23 (the week of banquet). *If the form is NOT completed and turned in by Thursday, January 23, students may STILL attend banquet. They would need to bring their COMPLETED form (and IDs) to the "WILL CALL" table on the NIGHT of banquet. Please be sure to speak with your student about the Sophomore Banquet. It is the ONLY KS Sponsored event of the evening. |
Banquet and Prom Reminders
Sophomore banquet and proms are just around the corner! Should your son or daughter attend sophomore banquet and/or be invited as a guest to Junior Prom or Senior Prom, we wanted to make you aware of a few guidelines.
Girls’ dresses must fall at the knee at all times. The shortest part of the dress hem should fall at the knee. Longer dresses are OK. Girls may not use slips or other garments or pull their dresses down to meet the “at the knee” rule. Girls who purchase lycra-type dresses must ensure that even while walking, dancing, etc., the dress is at the knee and should not have to be pulled down to meet the requirement. At no time should the dress need to be pulled down or altered to meet the requirement.
Should girls be found at any time in the evening with a dress that does not meet this guideline, they will be asked to leave or parents will be asked to bring a dress that meets the guidelines. We will not be allowing girls to leave and return once they've checked in, and we will not be providing them with material to help get them into compliance as we have in the past. This guideline stems from ongoing challenges with the girls in making sure their dresses are of an appropriate length for a high school function.
In addition, students will be asked to remain at the function for the duration of the event. In the past, students would leave well before the end of the function, causing parent chaperones to question whether parents knew their children were leaving early. We want to ensure that our students are safe and where they are supposed to be. If there is an extenuating circumstance, please contact the class advisor for the event.
Unacceptable dance styles include freaking, twerking and grinding. If not in compliance, the DJ will be asked to adjust the music. If still cannot comply, then the lights will be turned on for the remainder of the dance.
Please note that students MUST attend all classes in order to participate in any extracurricular or athletic event scheduled for that day, evening or weekend. This includes proms and dances.
